Product Innovation: Epoxy Insert Zone Improves Wheel Integrity Issues Associated With Bonded Cylinder Wheels
Nut inserted wheels, made from vitrified and resin bonds have been plagued by the occasional integrity issue of nuts pulling out during use and mounting. This is due to the brittle nature of the technology and the limiting processing techniques associated with these bond systems.
ANSI requirements for grinding wheel manufacturers requires speed testing at 1.5 times the rated wheel rpm. This test assures wheel integrity but does not duplicate the variety of forces and scenarios a wheel can encounter in regular use.
In response to customer demands, Rochester Abrasives Industries (RAI) has addressed this challenge and removed the nuisance problem from their line of grinding wheels. The molded polymer lug zone has resulted in a stronger system which has demonstrated flawless performance in use.
Test results are based upon continuous testing over the 3 years of manufacturing a variety of products consisting of numerous grades variations made of aluminum oxide and ceramic grain in wheels sizes from 6 inches top 20 inch diameters.
Contact RAI to discuss your current problems and any other grinding wheel issues that may need development and improvement.
